There are many methods of transportation, some more appealing than others. In fact, some people in Florida choose to use a motorcycle to travel from place to place for a variety of different reasons. Unfortunately, because of the relative lack of physical barriers, an accident involving a motorcycle can have devastating consequences. In fact, a Florida motorcyclist was recently killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer.

The accident happened at approximately 9 a.m. on a day in mid-June. According to police, a 24-year-old male was headed east on a Florida road. Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man was westbound in a tractor-trailer on the same road.

Reports indicate that the tractor-trailer driver attempted a left turn into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision. The force of the collision is said to have ejected the motorcyclist, and he died at the scene. Police did not release the identities of those involved in the accident, citing Marsy’s Law, an amendment meant to protect victims of crime.

An accident such as this often results in devastating emotional and financial consequences for surviving family members. While coming to terms with their grief, these grieving family members must also find a way to cope with funeral costs and lost wages. As such, many in Florida who suffered such a loss as a result someone else’s negligence often choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against those deemed responsible. In the case of a tractor-trailer accident, an experienced attorney can help identify all parties who may be liable, potentially including the driver and his or her employer.
