When semitruck drivers are on the road, they really need to pay attention to the laws. They may drive interstate or all around their home state and not have a great grasp of local laws, but when they make mistakes, they’re putting everyone’s lives on the line.
Take, for example, this case in which a Tampa man driving a semi makes an illegal U-turn. He attempted the turn in the highway median and caused a crash that resulted in a traffic jam for hours after the fact.
The crash on Interstate 275 happened at around 4:50 a.m., when the driver attempted to make a left turn into the southbound lanes of Interstate 275. The 48-year-old driver’s actions resulted in another man, a 55-year-old, crashing into him while inside his van.
The truck driver wasn’t hurt, but the man in the van did suffer serious injuries. The truck driver was cited for making an improper turn, according to the report from the Florida State Highway Patrol. The news did not report the current condition of the man who was hurt.
A crash like this is one that should make you angry. Why? When a driver decides to ignore the state laws and take actions that lead to another person getting seriously hurt, it’s frustrating and upsetting. Especially in the case of truck drivers, they must be cautious to know the local laws and to be sure to follow traffic laws. Violating a single rule could end up causing a serious or fatal crash, leading to unnecessary pain and suffering for those who are involved.
If you’re hurt, remember that you can pursue a claim against a negligent driver. They should be held responsible for their actions.
