Driving on the interstate is not without its share of risks. At any given time, dozens of vehicles are moving along two, three or more lanes at relatively high speeds, and any lapse in judgment on the part of a driver can cause a serious accident involving several vehicles. No one knows exactly what caused a recent crash on I-75 in Ocala, but the wreck involved two tractor-trailers and three passenger cars.

Accident details

Sometime in the morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 6, authorities were called to a multi-vehicle wreck on I-75. The crash occurred near the 350 exit. Ocala Fire Rescue, the Marion County Fire Rescue, the Ocala Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol all responded to the call. There, they found all five vehicles had completely blocked the road, with one tractor-trailer jackknifed and taking up almost the entire roadway.

Emergency responders claimed that none of the victims were trapped in their vehicles. However, one individual reportedly suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. No one else appeared to be hurt in the crash, and no word was given as to the injured party’s current condition. The crash remains under investigation.

Legal recourse for victims

Should the evidence suggest one of the truck drivers was responsible for the accident, affected parties can use that information in a personal injury claim against the truck driver, his or her employer, and anyone else with ownership interest in the truck. Likewise, if one of the passenger car drivers caused the crash, those adversely affected can pursue civil claims against the driver, seeking damages. In either case, interested parties will want to work with an experienced personal injury attorney in Florida to help increase their chances of obtaining a favorable outcome.
