Criminal charges for both drivers after fatal Florida crash

Florida investigators say multiple factors contributed to a massive collision that resulted in several deaths and severe injuries to numerous other people. During a preliminary investigation, law enforcement officers determined grounds for both drivers to be criminally charged in the incident. The tragedy took the lives of three people, one of whom was well-known Tik Tok star, Ali Spice.

Police reported that a 54-year-old motorist drove into oncoming traffic. His vehicle collided with another vehicle that was traveling 100 mph at the time. Spice was a passenger in that vehicle. Police also said that the driver who caused the collision fled the scene, leaving behind an injured passenger in his vehicle.

Driver who fled faces multiple criminal charges

Prosecutors have filed separate counts of fleeing the scene of an accident against the man whose vehicle careened into oncoming traffic, resulting in deaths. He is also facing charges of reckless driving and three counts of vehicular homicide. The man who was behind the wheel of the vehicle in which Spice was a passenger also faces criminal charges for vehicular homicide due to the speed at which he was traveling when the collision occurred.

Coping with a loved one’s sudden death in a car crash

Sadly, many Florida families understand the devastation of learning that a loved one was killed in a motor vehicle collision that was easily avoidable and caused by driver negligence. These tragedies often lead to wrongful death claims in civil court. State law allows an immediate family member of a decedent to file a claim seeking compensation for documented damages on behalf of a fatally injured loved one.
