A car accident in Manatee County caused injuries to four people, including two children. The crash involved two vehicles and caused critical injuries to one of the drivers. The others involved in the crash reportedly suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Details of the crash

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 27-year-old woman from Bradenton was driving along 75th Street West when her car collided with another vehicle traveling in the outside lane. That vehicle was being driven by another Bradenton woman, aged 66. The 27-year-old apparently had two children in the car with her.

The 27-year-old apparently struck the 66-year-old woman’s car and then crossed into the median and struck a tree before re-entering the road and striking the 66-year-old woman’s car again. The 27-year-old reportedly suffered critical injuries in the crash, and one of the children suffered serious injuries. The other two victims suffered injuries described as minor.

Legal repercussions

Since authorities suggest that the 27-year-old was responsible for the crash, the 66-year-old woman may choose to file a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver in an attempt to recover compensation stemming from the accident. Likewise, the parents or family members of the injured children may elect to pursue injury claims of their own against the 27-year-old. In either case, the plaintiffs will have to prove negligence on the part of the 27-year-old driver before the court will adjudicate the claim and award damages.
