Driver’s failure to stop causes Florida collision

On Behalf of | Mar 25, 2023 | Wrongful Death |

Many Florida residents are retired. Those who no longer drive their own vehicles often take advantage of transportation services, such as transit vans. A 93-year-old woman was traveling in such a van recently when a terrible collision occurred.

The van operator was traveling in an eastbound lane when a westbound Jeep Liberty did not stop at a stop sign. The vehicle slammed into the transit van. This caused the van to careen off the road where it struck a power pole and traffic sign.

Collision had tragic results

The driver of the Jeep is apparently recovering from minor injuries. Sadly, the occupants of the transit van fared much worse. The driver was listed in serious condition when he was transported to a hospital. The elderly woman did not survive

Losing a loved one in a preventable collision

Unexpectedly losing a loved one in a Florida collision is one of the most emotionally traumatic experiences a person may have. Issues such as failure to stop at a red light or stop sign are driver errors that are almost always preventable. An immediate family member of a deceased accident victim may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim in civil court. When a court rules in favor of a plaintiff, the judge may order compensation for documented damages, which may help alleviate financial distress associated with the incident, such as funeral expenses or medical bills for care rendered at the scene.
