At all times while driving, motorists need to pay close attention to others on the road to avoid accidents. Unfortunately, a momentary lapse in attention or another driver’s recklessness can cause serious accidents. As they investigate a crash in Orange County, Florida authorities hope to determine exactly what caused the accident.
Details regarding the crash
Reports state the accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. the night of Saturday, Dec. 15. Reportedly, a man, 72, and his wife passenger, also 72, were in a vehicle turning left onto Clarcona Ocoee Road when they were struck by another vehicle. That vehicle then struck another vehicle in the road’s turn lane.
The wife of the man driving the first car ultimately died from the injuries she suffered, and her husband was hospitalized in serious condition. The other drivers involved in the crash suffered only minor injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
Right to compensation
Should authorities find the 72-year-old man acted negligently when attempting his left turn in front of traffic, those injured in the crash may elect to pursue personal injury claims against the driver and anyone else with ownership in his vehicle. In addition, although the deceased victim was the man’s wife, her surviving family members can still choose to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver. If the other driver who struck the car as it was turning left was speeding or otherwise acting negligently on the road, that driver may instead face civil suits from those injured as well as from the decedent’s estate.
