Recent head-on collision claims a driver’s life

On Behalf of | Apr 5, 2024 | Car Accidents |

It’s no secret that people from all over the country are moving to Florida to take advantage of the warm climate and abundant economic opportunities here. However, an increasing population equates to higher volumes of traffic on roadways across the state. Likewise, more vehicles sharing roadways means more accidents are likely. Driving is likely one of the most dangerous day-to-day activities in the lives of most Floridians.

Details of a fatal accident

Recently in Calhoun County, an apparent head-on collision resulted in the death of a driver. The accident happened during the overnight hours on State Road 20. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was headed east on State Road 20 when, for unknown reasons, the driver crossed the centerline of the roadway.

Reports said the pickup truck collided with the front of a car that was traveling westbound. The car came to rest on the north shoulder of the roadway while the pickup truck ended up on the south shoulder, reports said. Tragically, the driver of the car was killed in the crash, authorities said. Reportedly, the driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the collision.

Legal options for victims and families

It is impossible to know when a serious or fatal accident will occur. Florida residents have a right to consult an attorney about pursuing damages from the at-fault party when they suffer injuries or lose immediate family members due to negligence in motor vehicle accidents. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation to the victim’s family that can be used to cover end-of-life expenses and recover other financial losses.
